Allen Bradley’s 4100-234-R compact motion controller is a microprocessor-based motion controller with 4-axis and remote I/O options, but no axle-link option. It uses an Intel i960 microprocessor with a processor speed of 16MHz, an efficient multitasking operating system (up to 10 tasks at a time), allowing up to 2,000 user-valued processes to be stored in 16-bit floating-point numbers in write-protected battery-supported volatile memory with 10 years of battery life and data retention. The 4100-234-R uses AC power inputs with input voltage ranges of 90 to 132 volts AC, 47 to 63 Hertz, current of 3 amps, I/O input power from 5 to 40 volts DC (nominal 24 volts), maximum current of 3 amps, plus 3 amps, ¼× 1¼ ratio slow fuse. Its remote I/O options allow smooth and easy communication with the device via a remote I/O adapter.

The 4100-234-R also allows direct connection to programmable logic controllers (PLCS) using block and discrete transmissions. It features four isolated configurable analog outputs with a control resolution of 6 bits, 305 µV, an output range between ±10 V DC or ±150 mA, and a maximum offset voltage output of ±80 mV at 220Ω voltage resistance. The 4100-234-R, when used with the flex I/O module, provides a wider range of discrete I/O input and output capabilities. The 4100-234-R can connect up to eight flex I/O modules to provide a total of 128 discrete I/O points. These discrete modules provide up to 20 dedicated optically isolated discrete inputs and 8 optically isolated, open-circuit relay discrete outputs for the 4100-234-R. The 4100-234-R uses GML for programming and the RS-232C for file transfer.
