National Instruments PCI-MIO-16E-4 (Part numbers: PCI-6040e and 777383-01) is a versatile, plug-and-play, PCI-controlled and powered data acquisition device. The device achieves 250 kS/s in multi-channel scan mode and 500 kS/s in single-channel scan mode. The pci-io-16e-4 features 16 differential or eight 12-bit resolution single-ended analog input channels, and eight 5v TTL/CMOS digital I/O lines. In addition, two 12-bit resolution analog output channels are provided with a sampling rate of 512 Samples/s and an output range of ±10 V. It has 3 DMA channels (scatter-collect mode).

This multifunctional I/O device tends to operate seamlessly and synchronously with various national instruments. For timing related functions and synchronization, it comes with 2 timing I/O channels with 24-bit resolution and a frequency of 20mhz. It has a small input signal bandwidth of 600 kHz and a large input signal bandwidth of 350 kHz. In addition, the NI PCI-MIO-16E-4 is designed to handle externally generated timing signals. The analog output of the device can be used to produce waveforms with frequencies of 1 millisecond per second. The two internal counters have two inputs (gate and source), two software registers, and one output for different applications. The device is equipped with a 68-pin type 0.050d male connector.
